Reduced to Ruble
We're all just running away
Secrets we've kept, dreams we don't share
Our lives paralleled with the bricks that we lay
Building that wall a little higher every day
And if it should all fall down
Leave a pile of crumbling relationships
Would I have the strenth to start again
To pick up the ruble and repair what had been
The end may be near or the day may be breaking
I stare out my window at the darkness we're making
I look in my heart at the god I've forsaken
Who doesn't give a damn that we're drifting away
And where is the world with mankind holding hands?
And where is the dove bringing peace to the lands?
And where is my life, surrounded by friends?
And where is my man, a mirage in the sands?
I turn off my light, close my eyes, and I dream
Of a world where the sun fills me with warmth
The rain falls, and I'm wet, no regret
As my life drifts away from my body.
